New World Stages

New World Stages Background:

Originally a Loews Cineplex, the structure closed down in 2001 and was turned into an Off-Broadway theater complex. It re-opened as Dodger States in 2004, before being re-dubbed New World Stages in 2006. New World Stages has five stages with seating capacity ranging from 199 to 499.

The complex also has a bar, lounge, and an art gallery. New World Stages has had some long-running shows such as Altar Boyz and Avenue Q, which transferred here after a successful Broadway run. New World has, in fact, become a prime venue for Broadway shows looking to transfer to an Off-Broadway space where running costs are lower but that still has a good theater district location.
