The Table Below Ranks The Winners And Losers From The 73rd Annual Tony Awards Show, Hosted By James Corden And Broadcasted On The CBS Television Network.

The Big Winners Of The 2019 Tony Awards

The 73rd annual Tony Awards were hosted by James Corden and broadcast live Sunday, June 9th 2019. This year, there were 25 new shows nominated for the 26 Tony awards, leaving little room for surprises and a feeling that everyone goes home with a prize.

Hadestown Wins Best Musical

Hadestown, nominated in fourteen categories, won the prize for "Best Musical", shocking nobody. Hadestown also won in seven other categories. Hadestown took the crown for the most Tonys in 2019 with a grand total of eight. Other notable mentions are The Ferryman, which won four and The Cher Show, which received two (including Best Actress), and all this with just three nominations. This puts them in third place of the winners at the 2019 Tony Awards.

Beetlejuice Comes Up Empty

Beetlejuice, which was nominated for eight Tony Awards, including "Best Musical" and "Best Original Score" did not end up winning any awards. Ain't Too Proud a jukebox musical, which follows the story of The Temptations, went one for twelve, making it the second biggest loser. Despite winning one major award, Tootsie went home fairly empty handed. With two wins and eleven nominations to their credit, they are topping out the top three losers at this year's Tony Awards.
