Broadway Week Ticket Sales FALL 2026 - Ticket Sales Opening Day News

August 18, 2026 - Opening Day Broadway Week 2-for-1 Ticket Sales

With another opening day of Broadway Week ticket sales under the bridge, its time to take stock of what happened.

This time around on Broadway Week - where Broadway shows tickets are 2-for-1 to boost sales in the back-to-school doldrums of September- no official ticket seller's server blew up, which has not been the experience in the past, with Telecharge, Ticketmaster, Criterion and ATG all crashing at some point during the first morning of the ticket sale in the past few years.

Some Broadway show specifics from today were:

  • Hamilton decided not to offer a discount deal for this Broadway Week because they chose instead to bring in Christopher Jackson (an original cast member) to shore ticket up sales during the quiet time - much like Harry Potter did earlier in 2026 with Tom Felton
  • MJ The Musical tickets were all sold out in about 1 hour on its basic 2 for 1 offer - as they didn't offer much in the way of ticket inventory in the first place. Their upgrade offer lasted longer but was only 25% off the regular price, which made ticket buyers less interested. The launch of the MJ movie drove this show into the #3 spot on the Broadway ticket sales list, so they didn't really need to discount the show at all to sell tickets
  • The Outsiders ticket pricing seemed to increase for the Broadway Week period in order to then discount them, which many ticket buyers discovered early and were turned off by the potential bait-and-switch
  • The Lion King offer didn't sell well at all and many ticket buyers found that they could still nab good orchestra tickets well into the day for about $80 per ticket, which is a relative bargain for this top show
  • Wicked surprisingly had lots of discount ticket inventory left after a morning of heavy ticket sales and many ticket bargains could still be found later in the day for this popular show that has dropped to position #6 in ticket sales
  • Oh, Mary! only discounted two shows on one day, specifically when Meg Stalter is not appearing and is replaced by the understudy Hannah Solow, which is compelling, but still odd as Meg Stalter is not that big of a name to drive sales the rest of the time. Only discounting two shows is pretty paltry and ticket byers were not impressed as the show is currently running #9 in ticket sales
  • Just In Time limited their ticket offer only up to Sept 13th as Ariana Madix is joining the cast and the producers expect there to be a ticket sales bump, as yet unrealized
  • Aladdin had lots of discount ticket availability left by the end of the day and was still a bargain
  • Paranormal Activity just opened in previews, so its a surprise to see an offer for a show that is just starting out
  • School Girls; Or, The African Mean Girls Play has scheduled their opening in previews on the very same day of the first night of Broadway Week, which is the first time a show has done that - the show sold well given that it comes in as a relative unknown
