This Week On Broadway: Connick Goes On Sale, Freestyle Opens Weak, Sea Wall Closes Strong
Tickets for the Harry Connick, Jr. - Celebration of Cole Porter went on sale on October 3, 2019, for his December 7 - December 29, 2019 run at the Nederlander Theatre. Freestyle Love Supreme had its opening night on October 2nd, with disappointing ticket sales that were far from the predicted number for the unscripted show.
American Utopia opened in previews at the Hudson Theatre and is set for a red carpet opening on October 20, 2019 and scheduled to close on January 19, 2020. When the show closes it makes its way for another temporary musical act until The Plaza Suite arrives on April 13, 2020. Sea Wall/A Life had its final performance on September 29, 2019 and closed out with strong returns of $854,678 for the week at an average of $113.05 per ticket.
Slight Uptick In Broadway Grosses
The weeks Broadway grosses only had a 1% increase over last week. As American Utopia started off in previews with strong sales with its average paid ticket grossing in sixth place right behind The Lion King at $141.90, but next week's full-week revenues for this show will be the clear indicator if these kinds of Broadway concerts with C-listers have the legs anticipated.
