A high-energy, irreverent musical comedy that reimagines the movie Titanic as if Céline Dion herself were telling the story and she was actually on the ship as it goes down

What's Titanique Like?

Framing Device

Titanique begins as a guided tour at a Titanic museum, where visitors expect a familiar retelling of the famous disaster. The tour is abruptly interrupted when Céline Dion appears and insists she was present on the ship, taking control of the narrative.

Reimagined Voyage

Céline retells the voyage of the Titanic using her own songs as emotional commentary, reshaping events to center herself within the story. Jack, Rose, Cal, Molly Brown, and the ship’s officers appear as exaggerated caricatures, and major plot points from the film are intentionally distorted for comic effect.

Romance and Rivalry

As the romance between Jack and Rose develops, Céline repeatedly inserts herself into their relationship, competing for attention and reframing moments to fit her version of events.

The Sinking

The ship’s sinking becomes an increasingly absurd and chaotic sequence, blending pop anthems, melodrama, and self-aware humor. The story concludes not as a faithful adaptation, but as a camp-driven parody that prioritizes comedy over historical accuracy.

Is Titanique Good for Kids?

Titanique is generally not considered suitable for young children. The show contains frequent adult humor, sexual innuendo, strong language, and camp-driven comedy that relies heavily on pop-culture references.

While there is no official age restriction, it is typically recommended for teenagers and adults, with most audiences suggesting ages 13 and up, and older teens more likely to appreciate the humor.

Titanique on Broadway Background

Development and Origins

Titanique was developed in early 2022 by Tye Blue, Marla Mindelle, and Constantine Rousouli as a camp parody combining the 1997 film Titanic with the music of Céline Dion. The creators intentionally designed the show for an intimate, comedy-driven environment, emphasizing pop-culture satire, audience interaction, and rapid-fire humor rather than conventional musical-theatre structure.

Off-Off-Broadway Premiere

The musical premiered Off-Off-Broadway at Asylum NYC in Chelsea in June 2022, running through July 2022 as a limited engagement. The production quickly gained attention through strong word of mouth and repeat attendance, prompting interest in a larger New York run.

Off-Broadway Run

Titanique transferred Off-Broadway to the Daryl Roth Theatre in Union Square, beginning performances in November 2022. The show ran there through June 2024, becoming one of the longest-running and most commercially successful Off-Broadway musicals of its period. During this run, it won the 2023 Lucille Lortel Award for Outstanding Musical.

West End Production

Following its New York success, Titanique opened in London’s West End at the Criterion Theatre in late 2024. The West End production closely mirrored the New York staging and marked the show’s first international engagement.

Broadway Engagement

Titanique is scheduled to make its Broadway debut at the St. James Theatre, with previews beginning March 26, 2026, an official opening on April 12, 2026, and a limited engagement through July 19, 2026.

Rare Off-Broadway Transfer

Titanique is a rare Off-Broadway transfer because it sustained a multi-year run driven by audience demand rather than commercial redevelopment. Its comedy-first, camp style remained intact, and the move to Broadway reflects proven popularity rather than expansion into a conventional large-scale musical.
