At a Ghanaian boarding school, queen bee Paulina’s rule is threatened by a new girl, sparking rivalry, shifting friendships, and a beauty pageant showdown over identity.

What's School Girls; Or, The African Mean Girls Play Like?

School Girls; Or, The African Mean Girls Play follows a tight-knit group of girls at an elite Ghanaian boarding school, where popularity, beauty, and status rule everything.

Story

Paulina is the undisputed leader of the school and fully expects to win the upcoming Miss Universe Ghana pageant. She controls her friend group with confidence and cruelty, keeping everyone in line—until Ericka, a new student recently arrived from America, enrolls.

Ericka’s lighter skin and effortless charm quickly attract attention, threatening Paulina’s long-held position. As the pageant approaches, tensions escalate into open rivalry. Alliances shift, secrets surface, and the girls are forced to confront what they truly value—winning, friendship, or self-acceptance.

Turning Point

When the pageant results don’t go as expected, Paulina is forced to face the consequences of her behavior and rethink her identity beyond status and control.

Resolution

The story closes with a shift in perspective, as the girls begin to see themselves—and each other—more honestly.

Is School Girls; Or, The African Mean Girls Play Good for Kids?

Not ideal for young kids—contains mature themes (bullying, colorism) and some language. Better suited for teens and up, depending on maturity level.
