What's This World of Tomorrow Like?

A Journey Through Time

This World of Tomorrow is a science-fiction romantic drama starring Tom Hanks as Bert Allenberry, a lonely scientist living near the end of the 21st century. Dissatisfied with his present-day existence, Bert discovers a way to travel back in time, repeatedly visiting the 1939 New York World's Fair, where he becomes fascinated by a world filled with optimism and technological possibilities.

An Unexpected Romance

During his journeys into the past, Bert meets Carmen, played by Kelli O'Hara, a woman whose warmth and outlook on life challenge his understanding of happiness. Their growing connection creates an emotional conflict as Bert struggles with the limitations of loving someone from another era.

Love Beyond Technology

Blending humor, romance, and science fiction, the play explores nostalgia, loneliness, and humanity's fascination with the future. Ultimately, This World of Tomorrow asks whether technological advancement can ever replace genuine human connection and the timeless desire to be loved.

Is This World of Tomorrow Good for Kids?

Best for teenagers; younger children may find its themes challenging.
