However, as the 2007-2008 economic downturn hits, their fortunes take a drastic turn, leading to financial struggles and the halting of their mansion's construction.

The Queen of Versailles will play a limited 4 week run Boston’s Emerson Colonial Theatre from July 16 through Aug. 18, 2024. Tony Award winner Kristin Chenoweth will star in the musical directed by Tony winner Michael Arden, which is based on the life and times of Jacqueline and David Siegel.

She is one of the main subjects of the 2012 documentary film, which was directed by Lauren Greenfield, and its sequel series, Queen of Versailles Reigns Again. The story was also featured in an episode of CNBC's Secret Lives of the Super Rich.
