Let the Good Times Roll on Broadway Background

Conception and Development

Let the Good Times Roll was created by veteran Broadway producer and dramaturg Jack Viertel. Known for shaping Smokey Joe’s Café, After Midnight, and The Prom, Viertel built this project as a large-scale jukebox celebration of New Orleans music and culture.

The work was first tested in Phoenix Theatre Company’s Festival of New American Theatre in early 2024 before moving into full production.

Creative Team

Music supervision, orchestrations, and arrangements are by Sonny Paladino, who has worked extensively on Broadway as a conductor and arranger. Direction and choreography are provided by Sara Edwards, whose staging emphasizes musical pulse and ensemble storytelling.

Producers Michael P. Kruke and Ram Narasimhan partnered with Phoenix Theatre Company to mount the initial production and shepherd it toward Broadway.

World Premiere 2025

The show premiered at Phoenix Theatre Company’s Hormel Theatre in Arizona. Previews began August 6, 2025, with an official opening on August 8 and a limited run through August 31. The production used a six-actor cast with swings and a full band.
