Thrilling reinvention of Ibsen’s original 1879 play about the fate of a married woman who lacks opportunities for self-fulfillment in a male-dominated world

A Doll's House on Broadway Background

Academy Award winner Jessica Chastain stars in this thrilling reinvention of Henrik Ibsen's A Doll's House which received its world premiere at the Royal Theatre in Copenhagen in 1879.

The new show is directed by Tony nominee Jamie Lloyd, one of contemporary theater’s most revolutionary auteurs. The play is adapted by acclaimed playwright Amy Herzog.

This new Broadway production makes the story freshly relevant from the original play that originally shocked audiences and brought forth a new era of theatre.

London's West End Opening Was Cancelled in 2020, Show Will Make Debut on Broadway in 2023

Jamie Lloyd’s production company had planned to stage this show, with Chastain starring, in London, with rehearsals set to begin in 2020, but that idea was torpedoed by the pandemic.

Previous Broadway Versions of The Show

“A Doll’s House,” was first staged in Denmark in 1879 and has been produced on Broadway 13 times. The most recent production on Broadway was in 1997.
