Show Summary
Starring Jake Gyllenhaal (Donnie Darko, Brokeback Mountain) in his Broadway debut, Constellations transfers to Broadway from London, where the show premiered at the prestigious Royal Court Theatre before transferring to the West End. The play is written by Nick Payne, a successful British writer who is also making his Broadway debut. The director is Michael Longhurst, who helmed the London productions. Payne’s last play in New York was the Off-Broadway production of If There Is I Haven’t Found It Yet, which also starred Jake Gyllenhaal and was also directed by Michael Longhurst. The play is a two-hander, and the other character is played by Ruth Wilson (Saving Mr. Banks, The Lone Ranger), who is making her Broadway debut as well.

Constellations - an new play by Nick Payne
The play received magnificent reviews upon its premiere in London, which allowed it to extend its run and transfer from the Royal Court to the Duke of York’s Theatre in the West End.  It was declared to be intelligent, extraordinary, playful, eloquent, and witty by reviewers across the board.  Furthermore, it took home the Evening Standard Theatre Award for Best Play, which made Nick Payne the youngest ever recipient of this honor (he was 29 at the time).  In the play, Roland (Jake Gyllenhaal) and Marianne (Ruth Wilson) have their first encounter.  The piece then explores the boundless potential of a relationship from the first moments, touching of themes of free will and friendship.  It is a Manhattan Theatre Club production at their Broadway venue, the Samuel J. Friedman Theatre.

The show may be inappropriate for children aged 12 and under.  Children under the age of 4 are not permitted in the theatre.
