The Full Monty

The show is centered around six unemployed steelworkers in Buffalo, New York, whose lives have fallen apart after the local steel industry collapses.  Struggling financially and emotionally, they become inspired after seeing how enthusiastically local women respond to a touring male strip show.

The Plan

Desperate to make money, the men decide to create their own one-night strip show. Since they cannot compete with professional dancers physically, they promise something different: they will go “the full monty” and completely strip naked.

More Than a Comedy

Much of the show follows their hilariously awkward attempts to learn dancing, rehearse, and overcome their embarrassment. But underneath the comedy are serious themes involving unemployment, depression, body image, relationships, masculinity, and self-worth.

The Finale

As opening night approaches, each man must decide whether he has the confidence to perform. The show ultimately becomes an uplifting story about friendship, dignity, acceptance, and rebuilding confidence after losing almost everything.
