Idina Menzel Is The Star Attraction
Idina Menzel returns to Broadway in new musical Redwood. The Tony Award winner known for Wicked and the Frozen films headlines this new musical Redwood on the Main Stem of Broadway in spring 2025. Tony nominee Tina Landau directs the musical, which is produced by Eva Price, Caroline Kaplan and Loudmouth Media.
Menzel made her La Jolla Playhouse debut in the world premiere of Redwood in February 2024 and ran until March 2024.

Redwood was originally developed and produced by San Diego’s La Jolla Playhouse, which concluded its limited-run premiere in spring 2024. The show was conceived by Tina Landau and Menzel, with the book by Landau, music by Kate Diaz and lyrics by Landau and Diaz,
Redwood Announces Show Closure After Failure To Pick up Any TONY Nominations
“Redwood,” the Broadway musical starring Idina Menzel, will end its Broadway run on May 18, 2025. This is an unexpectedly early closing announced just 24 hours after the show failed to garner any Tony Awards nominations. The show had been scheduled to run at least until Aug. 17, 2025.
“Redwood” was a passion project for Menzel and her main collaborator, Tina Landau, who conceived the show with the actress and then wrote the book and directed the production.
