Summary An elderly Jewish woman, once a famed Yiddish stage actress, reminisces about her days as a star while trying to deal with her daughter and granddaughter's differing attitudes towards the past.

Tweens and Up. Children under the age of 4 are not permitted in the theatre.

Our Recommendation
Donna Murphy gives a phenomenal performance in this new musical, which requires her to switch from being an elderly woman to her much younger self in the blink of an eye. She makes the transformations effortlessly, simply by altering her voice and bearing. Unfortunately the show itself is not as impressive. The old woman tells her granddaughter stories of her days in Poland, when she was a star of a Yiddish theatre troupe. The characters in the troupe are not well-developed, and though the musical deals with the difficult period in which Polish Jews were oppressed and executed in the 1930s, the show lacks the depth to do its subject justice.
