Show Summary - Harry Potter and the Cursed Child Parts One & Two

Harry Potter and the Cursed Child is a new hit play based on the globally renowned Harry Potter novel and film series.  In a play by Jack Thorne, an accomplished British playwright, and based on a story by J.K. Rowling, Jack Thorne and John Tiffany, the play has been selling out in a critically received run in London since June 2016.

Directed by John Tiffany (Once), this show comes to life on Broadway in the reconceived Lyric Theatre, which has transformed into a more intimate venue to accommodate this exciting production.

Divided into two separate plays, Parts One and Two, Harry Potter and the Cursed Child is the first brand new story by J.K. Rowling about Harry Potter in almost a decade. Taking place nineteen years after the events in the first novel, Harry Potters and the Deathly Hallows, this theatrical production follows Harry James Potter, who is an employee at the Ministry of Magic, along with his son, Albus Severus Potter, as a dark chain of events unfolds.

Featuring a cast of over 30 individuals, the show can be seen either back to back on one day, or over the course of two separate days.

Should You See Harry Potter and the Cursed Child On Broadway?

Jack Thorne, Screenwriter and author of Harry Potter and the Cursed Child Parts one and two

What Is Harry Potter and the Cursed Child Like?

Harry Potter is a timeless character whose engrossing magical travails have delighted those of all ages for many years. In an entirely new production, based on the first original story about Harry Potter in almost a decade, Harry Potter and the Cursed Child is not a shabby remake of a novel or one of the films. Rather, it takes the concept of Harry Potter to the next level. In this story, Harry is a grown up with a son of his own, and together, father and son take on a series of adventures that are as magical and imaginative as any of the Harry Potter tales. In a production by the visionary director John Tiffany, Harry Potter and the Cursed Child is a fantastically conceived show in the Lyric Theatre, which has been entirely altered for this production. This is a fantastic new production that has a proven track record of critical acclaim in London, and now comes to Broadway to delight audiences from near and far.
