Show Summary

Rock of Ages is a full-out, awesome ride that will make you feel like you are back in the 1980s.  It is a jukebox musical built around classic rock from this period, with artists including Journey, Bon Jovi, Pat Benatar, Styx, Twisted Sister, Poison, Europe, and Steve Perry.  With a book by Chris D’Arienzo, the show is a lighthearted comedy set on the Sunset Strip in Los Angeles.  It is about a young woman named Sherrie Christian who moves from Kansas to Los Angeles in an effort to make it as an actress, only to get a job as a waitress at legendary Hollywood bar The Bourbon Room and fall in love with a wannabe rocker.

Rock of Ages at the Helen Hayes Theatre on Broadway
What Is ROCK OF AGES Like?
The show is extremely fun, and the lighthearted comedy will keep a constant smile on your face.  Though it deals with tough issues like the difficulty of success in the cruel world of the entertainment industry, it is ultimately fun-loving and optimistic in tone.  The show includes extremely catchy hits such as “Don’t Stop Believin’,” “The Final Countdown,” “We Built This City,” “Here I Go Again,” “Can’t Fight This Feeling,” “I Want To Know What Love Is,” and “Wanted Dead or Alive.”  In 2012, Rock of Ages was adapted into a feature film starring Catherine Zeta-Jones, Russell Brand, Mary J. Blige, Bryan Cranston, Tom Cruise, Paul Giamatti, Julianne Hough, and Diego Boneta.
Is ROCK OF AGES Good for Kids?
Due to strong language, risqué costumes, and adult themes, the show may be inappropriate for children under the age of 14.  However, parents are advised to use their judgment based on the maturity of their own kids.  Children under the age of 4 are not allowed in the theatre.
