Remember to tune into MTV tomorrow, October 13, at 1pm to see the taping of the Broadway production of Legally Blonde. It was originally scheduled to air late last month, but postponed (presumably to allow more time to publicize it). In case you miss the 1pm showing, it is expected to re-air again at 8pm, and then the next day at 1pm.
Originally scheduled to air on MTV this past Saturday, the taping of Broadway musical Legally Blonde will now have its television premiere on October 13 at 1pm. Set your VCRs!
Today is the live taping of Legally Blonde, and MTV is rolling out the pink carpet for the event. Cast members from the MTV show “The Hills” will host, and there will be a pre-show event featuring other TV and tween celebs. Last week MTV gave out free tickets to fans of the bouncy Broadway musical, all of whom are 15-25 years of age and will be wearing pink (no, seriously!). This certainly ain’t your grandma’s Broadway!
It’s official, MTV will be taping the Broadway production of Legally Blonde to air on television. They will premiere it at 1PM on Saturday, September 29 as a part of a Legally Blonde: The Musical special event that will also include “Pink Carpet” festivities at the Palace Theatre and backstage interviews with the cast. The MTV airing is bound to get many teens and tweens excited about seeing the show live on Broadway, so if you want to catch it at a discount, you better act quickly!
Word on the street is that MTV is negotiating to film a performance of the Broadway musical Legally Blonde to be aired on the popular music television network. There are a lot of potential problems with such a proposal (in the past, videotaped versions of Broadway shows haven’t aired on TV until after the production closed), but it would be a great boost for Broadway to have one of its own touted on a youth powerhouse like MTV.
The cast and members of the creative team from the Broadway musical Legally Blonde will be at the Times Square Virgin Megastore (1540 Broadway at 45th Street) on July 17 for the official release of the show’s original cast recording. The cast will perform a couple songs from the musical and will also sign copies of the CD. The event starts at 5pm, and the first 100 people in line will get a gift bag with items from Godiva, Elle Magazine, and more.
The Broadway cast recording for the fun new musical Legally Blonde isn’t officially out until July 17, but you can get it early if you order it at www.Sh-K-Boom.com. The score by Nell Benjamin and Larry O’Keefe (Bat Boy) features what must be one of the most catchy songs in the history of Broadway, “Omigod, You Guys”. Oddly enough, Sh-K-Boom Records has also just released a CD recording for a Broadway play, Tom Stoppard’s The Coast of Utopia. Fans of the Lincoln Center-produced trilogy will find that listening to Mark Bennett’s memorable incidental music helps bring back the experience of seeing that unique production.
