Who is Howie Mandel?
A Toronto native, Mandel owned carpet stores before beginning his comedy career on a dare during a business trip to Los Angeles in 1979, when his friends coaxed him to perform on amateur night at the legendary Comedy Store. A producer in the crowd that night hired him on-the-spot to appear on the comedy game show "Make Me Laugh." That run led to talk show appearance, a stint as Diana Ross's opening act, and eventually led to his role on "St. Elsewhere."
He lives in Los Angeles with his wife and three Children.
