America's Got Talent Free TV Show Tickets in New York City / Newark, New Jersey
The America's Got Talent TV Show is Shot in the New York City area and America's Got Talent Tickets Are Available To The Public

America's Got Talent host Howard SternAfter several popular seasons on the air, NBC's hit TV show America's Got Talent moves to New York! Created by former American Idol host Simon Cowell, America's Got Talent combs the nation for Americans who boast all kinds of talent, from dance skills to circus tricks. The show's most significant talent finds so far have been young opera star Jackie Evancho and Vegas headliner Terry Fator. But Cowell wants to see America's Got Talent take on a new life, and he believes a move to New York will revive the TV show. "It gives the show a different edge," Cowell told the New York Post. "New York has a different feeling than Los Angeles. And I do believe the show needs more of an edge now."

Besides the move to the New York City area, what makes the upcoming 2012 season of America's Got Talent notable is the addition of new judge Howard Stern. A famed shock jock and Sirius Satellite Radio personality, Howard Stern is expected to bring some vigor and a younger audience to America's Got Talent. Because of Stern's long-standing reputation as a provocateur, the Parents Television Council immediately blasted NBC for the decision to hire him as a judge on America's Got Talent, but Stern is taking the criticism in stride, insisting that he intends to take the job seriously. In an interview with CNN host Piers Morgan, the man who he's replacing on the judging panel, Howard Stern said, "I can assure you and the rest of America what I'm looking at here is to be a very good judge." He added, “Whatever you think of me, I'm honest and I'll give you an honest opinion."

Of course Howard Stern won't be able to bring along any of his trusty radio sidekicks such as Robin Quivers to his new gig on America's Got Talent. But he will be joining host Nick Cannon and current panelists Sharon Osbourne and Howie Mandel, as well as a soon-to-be-added fourth judge. In his interview with the New York Post, Simon Cowell said that they want to bring on someone younger and female to help balance the panel, "someone who will not be afraid of Sharon and Howard and fight for a different type of act than they would."

When it was first announced that America's Got Talent would move to New York City, there was much speculation on where it might tape. Major theatrical and concert venues such as a Broadway theater or the Theater at Madison Square Garden were thought to be ideal in theory, but wouldn't work if they aren't willing to turn away other potential tenants for entire seasons at a time. Most of the traditional TV studios in the New York City area, though, are far too small. Cowell said that they were on the lookout for a venue that can accommodate somewhere between 1,000 and 3,000 people. As such, it wasn't a total surprise when it was announced that America's Got Talent wouldn't actually be filming right in New York City, but rather would tape in the nearby New Jersey Performing Arts Center in Newark.
