colin quinn long story short show review
Colin Quinn Long Story Short is currently playing at the following Broadway Theatre:
With his incisive wit and knowledge of history, Colin Quinn takes his audience on a hilarious journey back through time, satirizing the excesses of ancient cultures and of our own.
Jerry Seinfeld (Direction)
Colin Quinn (Author)
Summary Jerry Seinfeld directs this one-man show in which former SNL Weekend Update anchor and stand-up comedian Colin Quinn puts his own comic spin on the history of civilization from the ancient world to our present culture.
Age Not suitable for 12 and under. Children under the age of 4 are not permitted in the theatre.
Our Recommendation Quinn's regular Brooklyn guy demeanor and off-handed delivery can sometimes be deceiving - the fact is that he's one of the most historically knowledgeable and socially astute comics out there. His ability to connect the past with our present behavior has always been apparent in his comedy, but it takes centerstage with his new one-man show, in which he guides the audience on a 75-minute tour of history from Greek civilization to today. With just a few nifty projections and a surprisingly large reserve of accents, Colin Quinn does bits on the Roman empire being the world's first mafia, England's centuries-old obsession with France, the differences between East and West Africans, and comic takes on numerous other countries and cultures including Russia, China, Australia, and South America. History buffs and students of world cultures will get a particular charge out of Long Story Short, but just about anybody who has ever puzzled over different cultures or wondered how our own got this way will find plenty to laugh at here.
