Hotels on Wall Street and in the Downtown Financial District in New York City
Hotels that are located on Wall Street and in the Financial District in New York City's Lower Manhattan

Wall Street and the financial district hotelsThe Financial District is located at the southern tip of Manhattan in New York City below City Hall Park, and is one of the largest business districts in the United States. This Lower Manhattan neighborhood is home to many of New York City’s major financial institutions and compact with skyscrapers amid narrow streets, and of course Financial District hotels. Because the Financial District is mainly a place of business and less residential, it can quickly become a ghost town at night and on weekends, with only tourists coming in to visit attractions. The Financial District has a residential population of about 56,000, while during the weekdays the neighborhood grows to about 300,000 people. However, the number of residents in the Financial District and Wall Street has grown greatly in the past 10 years, with many office buildings being converted to apartments and condominiums.

Many subway lines pass through near Financial District hotels, including the 4/5/6, N/R/Q/W, 1/2/3, A/C/E, and the J/M/Z lines. The Staten Island Ferry leaves from the tip of Manhattan, past the Statue of Liberty, Ellis Island, and Governors Island. These landmarks are major tourist attractions near Wall Street and Financial District hotels and can be accessed from Battery Park by way of city statue cruises. Battery Park is a 25-acre public park along the shoreline, where there are gardens, monuments, and memorials. Vendors often set up stands with artwork and New York City memorabilia for sale in Battery Park.

Also near many Financial District hotels is Wall Street, running from Broadway to South Street, a historical center of the neighborhood. Wall Street is home to the New York Stock Exchange and Federal Hall National Memorial. The site of where the World Trade Center once stood is also a highly popular attraction that's worth a visit. There are various museums near Financial District hotels as well, such as the New York City Police Museum, Museum of American Finance, and the Sports Museum of America.

For excellent shopping near Financial District hotels, head over to the historical South Street Seaport, where Fulton Street meets the East River at Pier 17. South Street Seaport features old architecture, views of the Brooklyn Bridge and East River, an outdoor shopping mall with food court, and the South Street Seaport Museum, designated by Congress as America’s National Maritime Museum. The best restaurants near Financial District hotels are the MarkJoseph Steakhouse, catering largely to Wall Street businessmen, Battery Gardens Restaurant located on the waterfront, Il Brigante for casual Italian, and SUteiShi for fresh sushi and Japanese food.
