What Is War Paint Like? This show tells the story of the rivalry between two female entrepreneurs in the first half of the 20th century. It is based on a true story, as well as the 2004 book War Paint by Lindy Woodhead and the 2007 documentary film The Powder & the Glory by Ann Carol Grossman and Arnie Reisman. When the musical premiered at the Goodman Theatre in Chicago, it became the highest grossing show in the company’s history. The story is both inspiring and edifying, as both of these women came from humble backgrounds and created an entire industry through their fierce drive to succeed in a world otherwise run by men. In addition to their individual prowess, their constant rivalry led each woman to continually strive for greater heights, lending the material for a brilliant story for this musical. With an original score by Scott Frankel and Michael Korie, the show has the makings of a fascinating new work of theatre.
Is War Paint Good for Kids? The show is most appropriate for children over the age of 8. Children under the age of 4 are not permitted in the theatre.
