New Broadway Show This Season to Look out For!

Spongebob Squarepants and M Butterfly are among the new shows this season 2017-2018

After nearly two years of anticipation, Spongebob Squarepants is FINALLY hitting the Great White Way. When Boneau Bryan-Brown released the names of the songwriting team on this Broadway soon-to-be hit, everyone lost their minds. Waitress songwriter, Sara Bareilles, John Legend, Plain White T's, Yolanda Adams and none other than the Late-Great legend himself, David Bowie are only a few of the A-Listers on the team. The bright yellow sponge and his starfish best friend, Patrick will arrive on Broadway at the Palace Theater stage this fall November 06, 2017.

Clive Owen in M Butterly
Clive Owen stars in this play based on the true story of a French Diplomat and a Chinese opera singer caught in a forbidden love affair. This play is directed by The Lion King's Julie Taymor and written by David Henry Hwang. M Butterfly will be Owen's second stint on Broadway, following his debut last year in Old Times. This play is a revival and first premiered on Broadway in 1988. The show opens at the Cort Theater on October 07, 2017.

Frozen The Musical
Disney's Frozen The Musical premieres on Broadway in the spring of 2018 at the St. James Theater. This highly anticipated show stars Caissie Levy as Princess Elsa and Patti Murin as Princess Anna. Soon after the Disney movie came out in theaters November 27, 2013, Elsa, Anna and the funny snowman, Olaf were the talk of the town, or better yet, the nation. The Frozen brand has garnered a vast amount of fans over the years and is finally heading to Broadway. The Frozen cast is currently rehearsing for their pre-Broadway engagement at the Denver Center for the Performing Arts from August 17 to October 1 of this year.
Harry Potter
Harry Potter and the Cursed Child Parts 1 and 2 is the continuation of J.K. Rowling's popular series, Harry Potter. This show tells the tale of Harry Potter's son and his friends, 19 years after the events in the first book, Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows, happens. The show premiered in London last year, on July 30, 2016 with high praise. Harry Potter is produced by Sonia Friedman and Colin Callender and written by Jack Thorne. This play is set to open on Broadway at the Lyric Theater, April 22, 2018.
The Band's Visit
The Band's Visit is based on the 2007 Israeli film and tells the story of an Egyptian band, the Alexandria Ceremonial Police Orchestra who gets stranded in an abandoned Israeli town in a desert. With no place to stay or transport out of town, they are forced to rely on the kindness of the Israeli locals, who warily offer shelter and food for the band’s stay overnight. Beyond the initial language barriers, the Israelis and Egyptians overcome their skepticism of one another and eventually end up sharing intimate tales about their life experiences. This play stars "Monk" star, Tony Shahloub and Once's Katrina Lenk. The Band's Visit premieres on Broadway at the Ethel Barrymore Theater this fall October 07, 2017.
