The 71st Annual 2017 Tony Awards are on Sunday, June 11th, 2017 on CBS at 8PM Eastern time.

It is no secret that Josh Groban has carried Natasha, Pierre and The Great Comet of 1812 all the way to the top, making it the most nominated musical (12 nominations) for the 2016-2017 Broadway Season as well as one of the highest grossing Broadway Shows each week.

Dave Malloy, the creator of the music and lyrics of the show, is currently reprising his Off-Broadway role for select performances as “Pierre” until June 27, 2017. Malloy is nominated for Best Book of a Musical, Best Orchestrations and Best Original Score. If Malloy had started his role of “Pierre” in the Broadway production, as he did in the Off-Broadway production, he may have also received a Tony nod for Best Performance by an Actor in a Leading Role in a Musical. Groban's last performance as “Pierre” will be on July 2nd. He will be replaced by Hamilton's Okieriete Onaodowan, the former “Hercules Mulligan,” on July 3rd.

Groban and Malloy are not the only stars of this blockbuster show. Denée Benton's Broadway debut as "Natasha" is breathtaking and has received adulation by fans and critics alike. In another Hamilton connection, the Off-Broadway performance of “Natasha” was previously performed by Hamilton's Phillipa Soo. Soo, who made her leading Broadway role debut this season with Amelie, which closed earlier this season in May, did not make as much of an impact as Benton as “Natasha.” Denée Benton is nominated for Best Performance by an Actress in a Leading Role, much like her counterpart, Josh Groban.
