A superlative cast! -The New York Times
Casa Valentina cast photo

Dear Theatregoer,

Have I got a story for you! Inspired by actual events, CASA VALENTINA takes place in a Catskills bungalow colony in 1962.

Nestled in the land of dirty dancing and borscht belt comedy sat an inconspicuous country resort that catered to a very special clientele: heterosexual men whose favorite pastime was dressing and acting as women. It was paradise for these men — white-collar professionals with wives and children — to spend their weekends discreetly and safely inhabiting their chosen female alter egos.

This deeply human play offers a glimpse into the lives of a group of unforgettable characters as they search for acceptance and happiness in their own Garden of Eden. They are funny, unique, daring, challenging and colorful. I promise that you have never met anyone else like them. Tony Award-winning director Joe Mantello has gathered a magnificent ensemble of New York stage actors to bring their stories to life.

I cannot wait to take my seat in MTC’s Samuel J. Friedman Theatre to watch the world premiere of CASA VALENTINA with you.

Happy theatre-going, one and all,

Harvey Fierstein Signature
