Kenny Ortega To Direct In the Heights Movie Musical

In the Heights Broadway ShowIt has recently been announced in Variety that director/choreographer Kenny Ortega will be helming the forthcoming film version of the multiple Tony Award-winning hit Broadway musical In the Heights. This development could bode very well for the movie of In the Heights, as Ortega has already led the High School Musical franchise on to multi-millionaire dollar success and worldwide fame. Kenny Ortega also directed the Disney cult favorite musical Newsies (starring Christian Bale) and the recent Michael Jackson concert film This Is It. Other details are still sketchy about the upcoming In the Heights musical film, but it is known that the current plan is for co-creator and original star Lin-Manual Miranda to reprise his lead role as Usnavi. And the show's Tony-nominated bookwriter, Quiara Alegria Hudes, will be writing the adapted screenplay.

Corbin Bleu To Join Cast of In the Heights in 2010

High School Musical star Corbin Bleu is bound for Broadway, scheduled to join the cast of the Tony Award-winning hit musical In the Heights for a limited time, from January 25th to April 25th 2010. Although Bleu played second banana in the High School Musical franchise as Zac Efron's best friend, he will be taking the lead in In the Heights, assuming the demanding role of bodega owner Usnavi, originally played by the show's co-creator Lin-Manuel Miranda.

CD Signing With Broadway Cast of In The Heights

The newly-released original Broadway cast recording of In the Heights will be celebrated at a CD signing in the Times Square Virgin Megastore (1540 Broadway) this evening at 5pm. The cast - headed by Lin-Manuel Miranda, Mandy Gonzalez, Priscilla Lopez, Robin De Jesus, and Andrea Burns - will perform musical numbers from the show and then sign CDs for fans. The In the Heights Broadway cast album is a two-disc set, released by Ghostlight Records.

Rock 'N' Roll Is Dead, Is He Dead Is Buried, And In The Heights Is Open For Business On Broadway

Broadway lost two plays today when Tom Stoppard's Rock 'N' Roll and the Mark Twain comedy Is He Dead? closed. But Broadway gained a hot new musical with In the Heights, which just had its official opening at the Richard Rodgers Theatre. A couple of rave reviews have already come out, and if the ecstatic audience response for the show is any indication, there will be more to follow.

Happy Valentine's Day, musical theater lovers! Tonight at the Richard Rodgers Theatre, performances of the thrilling new Broadway show In the Heights begin. A musical love letter to the Manhattan neighborhood of Washington Heights, In the Heights had a successful Off-Broadway run last season and has now transferred to the Great White Way. The show officially opens on Broadway on March 9.

The Off-Broadway hit In the Heights, which recently closed in preparation for a Broadway transfer, has just announced its opening date and theater. The vibrant musical, set in the New York neighborhood of Washington Heights, will start previews at the Richard Rodgers Theatre on February 14, with an official Broadway opening date of March 9, 2007.

In the Heights to Transfer to Broadway

The new musical In the Heights, an Off-Broadway favorite this year, will be transferring to Broadway in the coming season. Featuring a hybrid of hip hop and Latin rhythms, In the Heights tells the story of several inhabitants of the Manhattan neighborhood Washington Heights. The current Off-Broadway production at 37 Arts will close on July 15 so that authors Lin-Manuel Miranda (music/lyrics) and Quiara Alegria Hudes (book) can revise the show for a Broadway bow in the 2007-2008 season.
