Forbidden Broadway Closing In January

Friday, September 12, 2008

The long-running Off-Broadway show Forbidden Broadway, which appeared in its first incarnation in 1982, will be closing in January 2009. It wouldn't be the first time that composer/lyricist Gerard Alessandrini's Forbidden Broadway, a musical revue that parodies Broadway musicals and plays, took a break, so it's possible that Forbidden Broadway will return to New York soon enough.

Forbidden Broadway Going On Hiatus

Tuesday, March 11, 2008

The long-running Off-Broadway musical revue Forbidden Broadway is taking a break for a few months, starting March 25. The Broadway-skewering spoof-ical will be vacationing in Miami at the Arsht Center for Performing Arts, and then will return to New York to resume performances at the 47th Street Theatre on June 28. Created by Gerard Alessandrini, the frequently-updated Forbidden Broadway has been creating hysterical parodies of Broadway musicals and beloved Broadway performers since 1982.

Tuesday, October 2, 2007

Forbidden Broadway: Rude Awakening, the latest incarnation of the cheeky Off-Broadway review that merrily skewers Broadway shows, will be captured on CD as a part of Forbidden Broadway: The 25th Anniversary, to be released on DRG in January 2008. This ninth Forbidden Broadway recording will not only include Rude Awakening material, but will also contain songs from previous editions of the show that never made it onto disc before.
