Florence Henderson Hosts Broadway Backwards

Broadway Backwards, the popular annual event now in its fifth year, is being held at Lincoln Center's Vivian Beaumont Theatre (current home to the hit South Pacific revival) tonight. Florence Henderson (The Brady Bunch) hosts this year's concert, which, as in previous years, will feature a slew of Broadway performers singing reversed gender songs. The event gives actors the chance to sing songs that they have always loved, but never actually get the chance to perform onstage because they were written for someone of the opposite gender. The starry cast of Broadway Backwards will include Raul Esparza, Mario Cantone, Len Cariou, Lea Salonga, Douglas Sills, Becki Newton, Bruce Vilanch, Dan Butler, Tony Goldwyn, Robert Cuccioli, Ann Harada, Lee Roy Reams, and many more.

Broadway Backwards Concert Tonight

Tonight at the American Airlines Theatre, tons of Broadway notables will be getting together for the third installment of Broadway Backwards. The Broadway Backwards concerts put a new spin on Broadway showtunes by letting men sing songs originally written for women, and by having women sing tunes traditionally sung by men. Among the Broadway performers on the bill tonight are Gary Beach, Cheyenne Jackson, Liz Callaway, Anthony Rapp, Len Cariou, Ann Harada, Brooks Ashmanskas, Sierra Boggess, Tituss Burgess, Charles Busch, Kerry Butler, Jenn Colella, Gavin Creel, Sandy Duncan, Malcolm Gets, Neil Patrick Harris, Jose Llana, and Lea Michele. Seth Rudetsky, who was recently featured in the Broadway revival of The Ritz, will host the event.
